North Charleston police officer shoots himself and then lies about it

Sergeant Eddie Bullard has been fired, and is under investigation by SLED, after he announced in a press conference last week that he shot himself, then lied about it.  He originally said he was shot in a struggle with a suspect on July 4th, but then admitted he shot himself after an investigation revealed there was no one else involved in the shooting.

“At the scene there wasn’t anything that corroborated what he was telling us,” Zumalt said. “There wasn’t any evidence of a struggle. We just could find zero evidence…It was like a dead zone and I couldn’t allow my workforce to hunt for ghosts.”
