Horry County police officer arrested, fired

Horry County police corporal Charles McLendon was arrested early this morning and charged with criminal domestic violence (CDV) and misconduct in office.  According to reports, the officer drove by his estranged wife’s house, while on duty, and saw another man dropping her off.  He then followed her in her car, used his PA system to tell her to pull over, then turned on his emergency equipment, drove past her, forced her to stop in the road, and approached her car with his gun drawn.  Later at her house there was a physical altercation where she alleges that he choked her.  More details are in the news report.  The officer has been terminated from Horry County Police Department.
